OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Published : - Categories : Blog , Fuu Factory

Fuu is a company aware of its environmental impact. And we put plastic vials on the market, so the cross is quite heavy to carry. Only an army of hermits could sincerely believe that this activity fits harmoniously into the trends of our time.

Unfortunately, we have not yet found a miraculous solution to replace the plastic in our bottles for the moment, it is simply the best material for our application: hygienic, light and strong. So if we console ourselves by saying that the public health objective of our activity symbolically "compensates" for its environmental impact, that does not mean that we do not think about concrete solutions to avoid waste, to recycle and properly dispose of our waste and reduce our energy consumption throughout the life of our products

So, concretely, how is it going?

Discover our best tips.

We play it legit.

We respect the regulations on eco-organizations. Since its creation, Fuu has been affiliated with the eco-organization Citeo, which supports and finances local communities so that they can implement efficient sorting and recycling solutions. It is an obligation, but so many companies do not respect it, thus it is considered square to tell you here. Also, it's a real pain to fill out the forms every year, honestly, precisely listing the number of packaging and communication media that we have put on the market. As a result, a good old tax, which we hope will be used judiciously by our friends at Citeo. Good work mates !

We trust our friends from the North.

Fuu chose Vattenfall, an energy supplier that offers only renewable electricity: wind, solar and hydro. It's a Swedish company, and we've been told everywhere that the Swedes, in addition to having rectangular glasses and working in product design, they tear up a lot on the environment. So we started on that, and for now, we don't regret it. The lamps and the heating light up correctly, the teams are thrilled. So yes, the bill is a little higher, like 15% more, but we think it's worth it. Therefore, by this choice, we are supporting the development of an electricity production sector that relies on renewable sources rather than fossil and nuclear energy.

We take revenge on the cardboard.

A nice tip: to ensure that our orders are pampered, we have found a clever solution: we reuse the boxes we receive in delivery and we reduce them to an anti-shock material that holds the products perfectly. The secret? A machine of German origin (ach!) Which has been with us since 2015, and cardboard, she’s eaten lots of boxes!. As a result, since the acquisition of "Herr Karton": we never bought any more rigs. It is estimated that over 1 ton of rigging is saved each year. It's a nice idea when you fall asleep at night.

And for eliquids, what happens?

First, we centralize everything in our premises. Everything is done in the same location at Fuu: R&D, production, labeling, creation of packaging, order preparation, etc. Logically, that means less transport, thus less pollution.

During manufacturing, we generate some waste. Here too, we are not content to just mess around in the sewers or through the window (which could be dangerous, because we are on the 3rd floor). So we sort, and we give everything to the competent sectors.

If we take production waste, mostly in liquid form, we try to limit it through clever processes. But when there is, they are collected and handed over to a company specializing in the processing of these products. Nicotine and fish don't mix.

For the bottles: we do our best.

Fuu has chosen to use vials made of two types of plastic: PET and HDPE. In theory these two plastics are said to be "recyclable", but in practice we unfortunately have no assurance that this material is actually reused rather than incinerated or thrown away. But the subject is gaining ground and we are not alone in wanting to do better. Within the profession, we discuss to put in place solutions: collection in store, bio-sourced materials, bottles from the recycled sector. Industrial constraints and ethical commitments must be able to come together.

Note that for your part, we recommend that you throw away your liquid caps in your plastic bin. The part of the bottle that contained nicotine should be thrown in the household garbage. That said, the sorting rules vary according to the communities, do not hesitate to inquire at the town hall.

For the hardware.

Basic rules: used batteries should not be thrown in the trash. We have told you since childhood, normally nobody does, but it doesn't hurt to remember it. Why ? Well first of all, because it has been banned since 1990. But above all, either incinerated or buried, they will release a whole load of shits like cadmium, lead and mercury.

There, straight into the collection bin. It's your destiny, broken 18650.

So Fuu is affiliated with the Corepile organisation, and can help you. It’s an eco-organization a bit like Citeo which we told you about above. Officially, Corepile "supports and finances local communities and businesses that invest in collecting and recycling batteries". Basically they make sure that used batteries will not end their life in a developing country or at the bottom of a mountain torrent.

Fuu is an official collection point for the Corepile network and offers its professional customers the option of recycling batteries collected in stores. Also, you can send us your batteries by mail as an individual customer. Do not hesitate to ask your nearest vape store if a collection bin is available.

As a bonus, our small daily gestures.

We have cleared the paper cups for coffee and tea. In exchange, everyone has their Fuu cup! For the coffees by the way, no coffee caps, but a cool machine which makes great coffee.
